Initiative. She has previously worked on Capital Hill, interned in the White House and is a native of North Dakota.

Joanne Ferreira has been a public affairs specialist with U.S. Customs and Border Protection within the Department of Homeland Security for four months. Her primary focus has been issues on international travel, trusted traveler programs and admissibility.
She previously worked at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (METRO), on Capitol Hill and for Ketchum Public Relations. She is a native of Puerto Rico.

Sandy, Kelly and Joanne talk about the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI), which outlines what documents the U.S. Customs and Border Protection recommends to U.S. citizens for entry into the United States by land or sea when traveling to Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean. They also discuss the Enhanced Driver's License Program, currently available in Washington State and should soon be available in other states, which would allow U.S. citizens to travel to neighboring countries without a passport.
